Understandably Confused?

There are still a lot of disconnects in the brain when you are 2
language barriers
social uncertainties
unnecessary fears
and just plain CONFUSION

for instance, learning that you don't put dog toys in your mouth
but the dog does.
and that you only put food in your mouth
but only if mommy says it's okay
and not food that has fallen on the floor
and not dog food.
and you can only eat certain foods at certain times
like cookies.
you eat them AFTER dinner
unless you forget to ask for it
and mommy eats it when you're not looking
(oh no, I NEVER do that!)

and water...
you just drink water out of YOUR cup
not the bath water
not the pool water
and again, not the dog water
or mommy's water for that matter
just YOUR water.
but drink lots of water, okay?

Also, confusion can be caused from just trying to learn plain
ENGLISH

like when we are reading animal books.
i try to do my best as Ashlyn points things out on the pages...
"Yes BabyLove, you're right that IS a deer... well, really it's a doe dear, i mean sweet cheeks,
it's a mama deer. She's called a doe. but No, not like cookie dough."

okay, what's on the next page...
oh, yes, a mouse, 3 of them.
There's 3 mice
...
when there's more than one you say, "mice".
are you following me babylove?
okay, let's read a different book now...

and why are ducks always yellow in nursery books?
Ducks aren't YELLOW!
and Elephants aren't BLUE!
goodness gracious.

keep in mind, preschool is just around the corner?!
i've certainly got my work cut out for me!

so we looked at a book from the library the other night,
it had a picture of a KNIGHT in it
and when Ashlyn points and asks

"what's that", I said, "it's a knight... a man dressed in armor.
A metal suit, or tin maybe? ...ummm well it's a shiny suit."

she says, "night-night!"

I'm not sure how to sort all of this out besides just

LAUGHING

(a lot)

sometimes i think i'm living on the Funny Farm

but i like it.
I never knew the English language could crack me up so much.

i don't even know why it is so strange, but

it continues to be pointed out daily to me that it has 'issues'.

sometimes i feel as though i'm talking to Charlie Brown who is only hearing me say
"Wonk Wonk Wonk"
and other times
I feel like I'm the one hearing the
"Wonk Wonk Wonk"
when Ashlyn talks.

or is it
"Wonka Wonka Wonka?"

Anyhow,

At least we get good laughs out of it and Ashlyn is a good sport and laughs along with me,

even though neither one of us knows what it is we are laughing at some of the time,

i'm just glad she doesn't get upset with me

and my lack of Wonka-Wonka translating abilities.

It's good therapy for us all.

to laugh that is.

Here's another example of some current Wonka-Wonka confusion...

My little artist really wanted to color w/ her sidewalk chalk first thing after breakfast one day.

yes, her pj's are totally mis-matched.

i guess we have pj confusion too.

anyhow, Remi likes to eat the chalk on occasion
and Ashlyn likes to write on anything and everything, including furry animals.

So, i tried to be one step ahead of the game and put Remi out into the yard
and put toys around ashlyn as a barrier.

so, then i walked off and when i came back

Remi is laying 'inside' the barrier
(with his ears down looking as though, he had absolutely no idea why I would put a barrier up)

all the while ashlyn is still drawing away

and Remi's nose looks to have some new shades of yellow on it.
i mean, why not color the dog? or shoes or wonka wonka wonka?

oh well, for now i will just go along with all the funnies on my funny farm

and laugh at a girl who i find bathing her baby in her

kitchen sink.

and a dog who i find with

smiley face stickers on his head.

he's a good boy after all

and never potties in his pants

all is good

and

HAPPY

here

on

OUR FARM

YOU DESERVE A STICKER FOR SURE! ;-)
